「なんだよ、それ～💦？ 全然知らんし、オレ関係ないじゃん！」
“What the heck is that💦？
I have no idea what you’re talking about, and this has nothing to do with me！”
まぁまぁ
💦 わたくし…ブログ主もよく分かっていないんだ！
Now, now💦 Even Iー the blog owner－ don’t really know much about it me！
実は…むか～し、学生の頃の授業で、百首全部を覚えないといけなくて…挫折した経験があるんだ💧
The truth is way back in high school, I had to memorize all 100 poems for a class…and I ended up giving up halfway💧
…それを大人になった今に勉強し直そうと思って…この企画を考えたってワケ💦
…So now that I’m an adult, I thought I’d finally go back and study them properly, and that’s how I came up with this series💦
「…だったら、個人的にやったら💧？」
“…Then why not just do it on your own💧？”
…あら、あら、いつもはサポートしてくれる…好奇心旺盛で優しいレオンはどうしたの～

…Well, well…what happened to my kind, curious Leon who’s always so supportive💦？
「…なんか堅苦しそうだし、学校の授業の延長みたいで嫌だな
」
“…It sounds kind of stiff and formal. I don’t like it.
It feels like being back in school”
レオンも学校の授業は苦手だったタイプ♪？
Were you the type who wasn’t very good at school, too, Leon♪？
「…まぁな。だったら、警察官になんて…ましてや身体を張るエージェントなんてなってないだろうしな💧」
“Yeah, I guess. If I were like that, I probably wouldn’t have become a cop in the first place…let alone an agent who puts his life on the line💧”
まぁ…確かに💧 (それでも真面目にそこそこの成績は取ってそうだけど…

「百人一首」…これが意外と奥が深いのよ♪
Hyakunin isshu…it’s actually a lot more fascinating and profound than you might think♪
ほら、大人になればなるほど…学ぶという面白さを知るでしょ♫？
You know how, the older you get…the more you come to appreciate the joy of learning new things♫？
だから今回、リベンジという形で学び直そうと思って！
So this time, I decided to give it another shot and study it all over again！

…まぁ💦 早速、最初の句から始めて行きましょう
…Well💦 Let’s go ahead and start with the very first poem
今はノリ気じゃあないレオンも段々楽しくなってくるかもよ♪？
Even if you’re not really into it right now, Leon, you might actually start having fun with it as we go♪？
「…だといいがな♪？」
“…I hope so♪？”
１. 秋の田の かりほの庵の 苫をあらみ わが衣手は 露に濡れつつ
↑農民マービンとケビン。それを憂う歌い手レオン(天智天皇💧) 。
Marvin and Kevin, the farmers.
And Leon (Emperor Tenji), the poet who feels for them💧
上の句…あきのたの かりほのいほの とまをあらみ
The first half…Aki no ta no kariho no iho no tomawo arami
下の句…わがころもでは つゆにぬれつつ
The second half…Waga koromodewa tsuyu ni nure tsutsu
現代語訳「秋の田んぼのほとりに建てられた仮の小屋にいると、屋根の苫が荒いので、私の袖は露でしっとり濡れていく。」
Modern translation…As I stay in a temporary shelter beside the autumn rice fields, the thatched roof is so rough and full of gaps that dew seeps through and leaves my sleeves damp.
解説 秋の収穫期。田んぼには、農作業をする人が休んだり、田んぼを見張ったりするための粗末な仮小屋が建っています。
Explanation…It’s harvest season in autumn.
In the rice fields, there are simple temporary huts where the farm workers can rest or keep watch over the fields.
屋根には「苫(とま)」という、草などを編んで作ったものがありますが、編み目が粗く…夜露が入り込んできます。
The roofs are covered with something called toma, which is made by wearing grasses and other plants together.
But the weave is coarse, allowing the nighttime dew to seep through.
苫とは？…管や茅などを粗く編んで作った「むしろ状の覆い」を指す言葉。主に屋根や船の上部を覆い、雨露をしのぐために使われたもの。
What is a toma？…The word refers to a mat-like covering made by loosely weaving materials such as reeds and miscanthus.
It was mainly used to cover roofs and the upper parts of boats, providing protection from rain and dew.
そして、そこで夜を過ごしている人たちの服の袖が濡れてしまう…という農民たちの厳しい暮らしを、「わが衣手」で自分自身の体験のように共感していると考えられます。つまり、「自分のことのように、相手を憂う」…素晴らしい歌なのです。
And it is thought that, through the words ‘my sleeves,’ the poet empathizes with the harsh lives of the farmers spending the night there, as though he himself were experiencing it.
In order words, it is a beautiful poem about ‘feeling concern for someone as though their suffering were your own.’
最後の「露に濡れつつ」は、「露に濡れ続ける」という意味で、さらに切なさを表現しています。
The final phrase, ‘tsuyu ni nure-tsutsu,’ means ‘continuing to be wet with dew,’ which expresses an even deeper sense of sorrow and poignancy.
※天智天皇(てんじてんのう)とは？…日本の第38代天皇(626～672) 。
Who was Emperor Tenji？…The 38th Emperor of Japan (626－672).
幼名は葛城皇子(かずらぎのおうじ)。皇子時代は中大兄皇子(なかのおおえのおうじ)。
His childhood name was Prince Katsuragi.
As a prince, he was known as Prince Naka-no-Oe.
母・皇極天皇の皇太子であった時期に中臣鎌足と共に「乙巳の変」で蘇我入鹿を倒し、叔父の孝徳天皇の元で「大化の改新」を推進した。
While serving as Crown Prince under his mother, Empress Kōgyoku, he joined forces with Nakatomi no Kamatari to overthrow Soga no Iruka in the Isshi Incident.
Under his uncle, Emperor Kōtoku, he then promoted the Taika Reforms.
平安王朝の太祖として敬意を払われ、百人一首に↑この歌が載せられた。
He was revered as the founding ancestor of the Heian imperial court, and this poem was included in the Hyakunin Isshu in his honor.
