今回は2025年11月15日の記事の続き…鎌倉特集第３弾です！
This is a continuation of my November 15, 2025, postー the third installment of my Kamakura special！
アジサイが咲き誇る初夏🌺
Early summer, when the hydrangeas are in full bloom🌺
今回は特に怪文書は送られてきていませんが、再び鎌倉に呼び出されるレオン💧
This time, no mysterious letter showed up…
Yet somehow, Leon has been summoned back to Kamakura once again💧
「…ってことは、また武器商人(あいつ)の仕業か～
？」
“…Which means this is the Merchant’s doing again, isn’t it?!”
今回のゲストとの待ち合わせ場所は、鎌倉駅前ではなく…、鎌倉駅からタクシーで約７分。
This time, the meeting spot with our guest isn’t in front of Kamakura Station…
It’s about a ７-minute taxi ride from Kamakura.
または京浜急行バス「鎌倉霊園正面前太刃洗・金沢八景行き/ハイランド行き (バス停「浄明寺」下車 徒歩３分)。
Alternatively, you can take a Keihin Kyuko Bus bound for Kamakura Reien Syomen-mae Toharai / Kanazawa-hakkei or Highland, get off at the Jomyoji bus stop, and walk for about ３minutes.
報国寺！
Hokokuji Temple！
ここのお寺は、およそ2000本の竹と四季折々の草花が楽しめるお庭が有名
This temple is famous for its garden, where you can enjoy around 2,000 bamboo stalks and seasonal flowers throughout the year
そして、それを眺めながら……お抹茶と干菓子も楽しめます
And while taking in the scenery, you can also enjoy matcha tea and traditional Japanese sweets
それでは、ここで今回のゲストの紹介！

「…あ～、実はそいつから、ここに来るように言われたんだ…。今回は忙しくて、顔を出せないからってさ！
すごく怪しかったけど～💧 でも、レオンが来るって言うから、一応来てみたら…まさか、本当に現れるとはな‼」
“Ah, well…actually, he’s the one who told me to come here this time.
He said he was too busy to show up himself！
It sounded really suspicious, though💧
But when he said you’d be coming, I figured I’d stop by anyway…
Never thought you’d actually show up for real!!”
「なんなんだ、あいつ～！ ラクーンシティホールの鎌倉特集を裏で仕切っているのか～💦？」
“What is that guy’s problem?! Is he secretly running Raccoon City Hall’s Kamakura special from behind the scenes or something💦?“
「しかも〈武器商人の格好に化けて、レオンに会いに行け！〉って、最初は言われたけど…嫌だから断った💧」
“And get thisー at first, he told me, ‘Dress up as the Merchant and go meet Leon！’ But…no way. I turned him down💧”
「何考えてんだ、あいつ～？ 何がしたいんだ一体💦⁈ (じゃあ、前回のエイダはコスプレOKしたのかよ～💧) 」

Today’s guest is none other than the co-protagonist who’s been getting a lot of attention since the announcement of the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake…Steve Burnside～♪”
「いぇ～い♪ リメイクで大復活！ ラクーンシティホールでは〈トモコレ〉でも大活躍中♪ みんな～、よろしくな～
…って、何がまともだよ？ オレはお前と仲良くするつもりはないからな！
そして、クレアは絶対お前になんか渡さないからな‼」
“Yeaahh～♪ Back in action thanks to the remake！
And over at Raccoon City Hall, I’ve even been making a big splash in Tomodachi Collection！ Nice to meet you all～
…Wait, what do you mean ‘normal guest‘?!
I’m not planning on being friends with you, got it?!
And there’s no way I’m ever handing Claire over to you!!”
「 (結局、いつもクレアの話💧) はいはい。…まぁ、入り口で長話もなんだから、早速お寺の中に入ろう♪」
“(It always comes back to Claire with this guy…💧) Yeah, yeah.
Anyway, no point standing around chatting at the entrance.
Let’s head inside the temple♪”
「…まぁそうだな。了解っす
」
“…Yeah, sounds good. Roger that”

“(Wow, he’s way too casual…💧 He’s definitely not taking me seriously)
山門をくぐると、まず最初に見えてくるのは、↑こんな素敵なお庭。
Passing through the temple gate, the first thing you’ll see is this beautiful garden shown above.
通路を挟んだ反対側には、竹から流れる水音で癒される池。
On the opposite side of the pathway is a pond, where the sound of water flowing from bamboo creates a soothing atmosphere.
道なりに小高い丘を上がると…、
As you follow the path up a small hill…
本堂が見えてきました。まずはここでお参り。
The main hall comes into view. First, let’s stop here to pay our respects.
「…

「…チラッ、チラッ💦」 “…glance, glance💦”
もう何度も日本のお寺のお参りに慣れているレオン。スティーブはそんなレオンを見様見真似で拝む。…なんやかんやで、レオンことが気になるし、尊敬してんじゃあないの～？
Having visited Japanese temples many times by now, Leon is already quite familiar with the proper way to pay his respects.
Steve, meanwhile, copies what Leon is doing and offers a prayer the same way.
…For all his complaining, maybe he really does pay attention to Leonー and even looks up to him a little～？

さぁ、ここから、「竹の庭」の世界にごあんな～い♪
Now then, let’s step into the world of the bamboo garden～♪
京都へ旅行した時の「竹林の小径」を思い出します♪
It reminds me of the Bamboo Grove Path I visited during my trip to Kyoto♪
…が、こちらはそこより小規模ですが、とても静かで落ち着きます。
While this one is smaller in scale, it’s incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
竹に囲まれた小道の途中にある中庭。
Along the path surrounded by bamboo lies a small courtyard.
よく手入れされた枯山水のお庭がまた風情があります
The beautifully maintained karesansui (dry landscape garden) adds even more charm and elegance to the atmosphere
梅雨空から晴れ間も見えてきました🌞
The overcast rainy-season sky is beginning to clear, and patches of blue are starting to appear🌞
観光客も多いはずなのに、１番よく聴こえてくるのはウグイスのさえずり
Even through there are plenty of visitors around, the sounds that stands out the most is the song of the Japanese bush warbler
中庭にも池があって、錦鯉が優雅に泳いでいます。
There’s also a pond in the courtyard, where colorful koi glide gracefully through the water.
水もキレイで元気いっぱい♪
The water is crystal clear, and the koi look full of energy♪
まだまだ奥へと続く、竹の道。
The bamboo-lined path continues even farther into the garden.
「空気が美味し～い」
“The air here is amazing”
「…そうだね♪」
“…Yeah, it really is♪”
…と、日頃なかなか吸えないマイナスイオンたっぷりの空気を深呼吸して堪能
And with that, they take a deep breath and savor the fresh, ion-rich air that’s so hard to come by in everyday life
竹の下の方には、剥かれたまんまの皮が。
Near the base of the bamboo, you can still see the peeled-back outer husks.
本当にあのタケノコが成長して、↑こんな竹になるんですよね。 驚きです！
It’s amazing to think that those little bamboo shoots really do grow into towering bamboo like this. What a surprise！
この場所は山に囲まれています。
The area surrounding this place is nestled among the hills.
中庭から竹の道を歩くと、
As you continue along the bamboo path from the courtyard…
崖には「やぐら」が見えます。
You can spot several yagura carved into the cliffside.
※やぐらとは？…鎌倉地域に多く存在する横穴式の墳墓のこと。
What is a yagura？ It is a type of cave tomb commonly found throughout the Kamakura area.
ここ「報国寺」のやぐらは、開基・足利家時と４代鎌倉公方・足利持氏の嫡子・足利義久の墓だといわれています。
The yagura at Hokokuji Temple are said to be the burial sites of its founder, Ashikaga Ietoki, and Ashikaga Yoshihisa, the eldest son of Ashikaga Mochiuji, the fourth Kamakura kubō.
更に奥へ。
Let’s continue farther in.
良い空気を吸いながら、竹の道をゆっくり楽しむレオンとスティーブ♪
Taking in the fresh air, Leon and Steve leisurely stroll along the bamboo path, enjoying the scenery♪
すると…！
Then…！
何か建物が見えてきました‼
A building has come into view!!
ここは「休耕庵(きゅうこうあん)」♪
This is Kyuko-an♪
竹の庭を眺めながら、お抹茶と干菓子を楽しめます。
Here, you can enjoy matcha tea and traditional Japanese sweets while gazing out over the bamboo garden.
拝観券を購入する時に「抹茶付きセット」にすると便利です♪
It’s convenient to choose the matcha set when purchasing your admission ticket♪
「思ったより飲みやすくて…美味い♪」
“It’s a lot easier to drink than I expected…and it’s really good♪”
「…スティーブの口に合って良かった～ 」
“…I’m glad it suits your taste, Steve”
「… や、優しいこと言うなしっ(照)💦！」

」 (…こんなオレでも、一瞬もってかれそうになった…💦 これが噂のキラースマイルか！ …レオン・S・ケネディ…恐るべし‼)
(…Even I almost got swept away for a second there…💦
So this is the legendary Killer Smile！ Leon S. Kennedy…truly terrifying!!)
足利の家紋と竹をかたどった干菓子。
The traditional sweets are shaped like the Ashikaga family crest and bamboo stalks.
※干菓子(ひがし)とは？…水分の少ないお菓子のこと。具体的には、水分が10％以下の和菓子を指し、乾菓子ともいいます。
What are higashi？ Higashi are dry Japanese confectioneries with very little moisture.
More specifically, the term refers to wagashi containing 10% moisture or less, and they are also known as kangashi.
↑こちらは「落雁(らくがん)」という種類のお菓子ですね♪
The sweet shown above is a type of higashi called rakugan♪
※「落雁」とは？…米や麦、豆などの穀物から作った粉に、砂糖や水あめなどを混ぜ、型に押し固めて乾燥させたお菓子のこと。
What is rakugan？ It is a traditional Japanese confection made by mixing sugar and syrup with flour derived from grains such as rice, wheat, or beans, then pressing the mixture into molds and drying it.
「味は結構、アマアマや～♪」
”Wow, these are really sweet～♪”
「真島の兄さんかぁ～💦！」
“What are you, Majima’s little brother or something～💦”
分かりにくいですが…奥には滝が流れています。
It’s a little hard to see, but there’s actually a waterfall flowing in the background.
竹林の清々しさ ＋ 滝の音 ＋ 時々ウグイスのさえずり…
The refreshing bamboo, the soothing sound of the waterfall, and the occasional song of a Japanese bush warbler…
こんな最高のシチュエーションで戴く…お抹茶はさらに美味しく感じました
In such a perfect setting, the matcha tasted even better
「休耕庵(きゅうこうあん)」をゆっくり堪能して、再び竹の道へ。
After taking our time and fully enjoying Kyuko-an, we head back to the bamboo path once again.
雨予報があった今日…晴れ間が見えてきて良かった♪
There was rain in the forecast today, so it’s nice to see the sky clearing up♪
出口近くから、名残惜しそうに振り返る２人。
Near the exit, the two look back one last time, reluctant to leave.
遠くに「休耕庵(きゅうこうあん)」が見えます。
In the distance, Kyuko-an can still be seen.
日頃の疲れがすっかり癒されました～
The peaceful surrounding has completely washed away the stress of everyday life
最後に本堂を正面からパシャリ
Before leaving, here’s one last shot of the main hall from the front
「報国寺」の御朱印！ 今回も素晴らしいものを頂きました
Hokokuji Temple’s goshuin！ Once again, I receive a beautiful one♪
続いて、「報国寺」から歩いて約10分。
Next, it’s about a 10-minute walk from Hokokuji Temple.
杉本寺(すぎもとでら)にやってきました♪
We’ve arrived at Sugimoto-dera Temple♪
ここは鎌倉最古のお寺です！
This is the oldest temple in Kamakura！
そして、このお寺の見どころは…‼
And the highlight of this temple is…‼
仁王門までの階段を上がると、ほら！ 見えてきました‼
Climb the steps leading up to the Niō Gate andー look！ There it is!!
苔の階段！
The moss-covered steps！
仁王門から本堂へと真っ直ぐ伸びる石段一帯が苔に覆われています。
The entire stone staircase stretching straight from the Niō Gate to the main hall is covered in moss.
もちろん、この階段は傷み防止のため立ち入り禁止！
Of course, this staircase is off-limits to visitors in order to prevent damage！
別の階段を昇って、本堂へ！
We take another set of stairs and head up to the main hall！
そこから見下ろした苔の階段。
The moss-covered steps seen from above.
「昨晩降った雨のおかげで、苔の緑がより鮮やか～」
“Thanks to the rain that fell last night, the moss looks even more vibrant and green“
「ちょうど良い時に見れて良かったな～♪」
“Glad we got to see it at just the right time♪”
そして、こちらが本堂。
And this is the main hall.
中は宝物殿にもなっていて、素晴らしくて興味があるものがたくさんでした♪
Inside, it also serves as a treasure hall, filled with many fascinating and impressive exhibits♪
しかし、一切撮影禁止！
However, photography is strictly prohibited！
「是非、皆さんもここを訪れて、実際の目で確かめてね～♪」
“Everyone, you should definitely come and visit to see it for yourselves～♪”
その他、鐘撞堂や
Other highlights include the bell tower, and…

入口からの階段を見て分かる通り、本堂は高台になっているので、

You can enjoy a panoramic view all the way out to Sagami Bay♪
本堂をゆっくり見学した後は、上がって来たとは別のルートから下山💦
After taking our time exploring the main hall, we head back down via a different route from the one we came up💦
その途中には、↑こんな立派な弁財天様が！
Along the way, there’s this magnificent statue of Benzaiten！
これ以上、近寄れないので、階段からお祈り
We can’t get any closer, so we offer our prayers from the steps
「ベロニカ リメイクで、もっとオレの人気がでますように…
レオンより人気がでますように…」
” Please let my popularity rise even more in the Code: Veronica remake…
Let me become more popular than Leon, too, please”
「………💧」
弁財天様といえば…芸事の神様。これで、スティーブの人気運も上がるかもしれませんね♪
Since Benzaiten is the goddess of arts and performance, Steve’s luck in popularity might actually iｍprove here♪
(どういうリメイクのされ方をするか…分からないけど💧)
(Though…who knows how he’ll actually be portrayed in the remake💧)
最後にお約束の御朱印を頂いたのですが、後ほど紹介します♪
We also received a goshuin at the end, which I’ll introduce later♪
そして、一旦、鎌倉駅方面まで戻り、「江ノ電」の乗って「長谷駅」へ！
Then we head back toward Kamakura Station for a bit and take the Enoden train to Hase Station！
今の季節の「江ノ電」は、上りも下りも超満員💦
At this time of year, both inbound and outbound Enoden trains are extremely crowded💦
名物の「アジサイ」が見頃だからなんですね。
That’s because the famous hydrangeas are in full bloom.
「長谷駅」から徒歩約７分。
From Hase Station, it’s about a ７-minute walk.
鎌倉大仏で有名な高徳院に到着♪
We’ve arrived at Kōtoku-in Temple, home of the famous Great Buddha of Kamakura♪
やはり、ここはいろいろな国からの観光客でいっぱい！
As expected, the temple is full of tourists from all over the world！
参拝料をおさめ、
After paying the admission fee,
大仏様と御た～いめ～ん♪
We come face to face with the Great Buddha♪
＆「大仏様をセンターに…はい、ポーズ♪」
“Let’s center the Great Buddha…alright, pose♪”
色男３人(💧？)そろい踏み？
Three handsome men💧 lining up together？
本名💧 「銅造阿弥陀如来坐像」様。
Its official name is the Bronze Seated Statue of Amida Nyorai.
像高は約11.3ｍ、台座を含めて約13.3m。
The statue stands about 11.3 meters tall, and approximately 13.3 meters including the base.
穏やかに薄目を開け、レオンとスティーブを見つめています💧
With its gently half-closed eyes, it seems to be quietly gazing at Leon and Steve💧
「立ち上がったら、ガンダムくらいの大きさだな♪」
” If it stood up, it’d be about the size of a Gundam, huh♪？”
(その喩え方…スティーブ、さてはキミもガンダムファンだな💧？)
(That comparison…Steve, don’t tell me you’re a Gundam fan too 💧？)
そして、なんと！ 大仏様の中に入れちゃう‼
And surprisinglyー you can actually go inside the Great Buddha!!
入場料50円を払い、←安っ💧 大仏様の体内へお邪魔しま～っす♪
After paying an admission fee of 50 yen (← so cheap💧), we head inside the statue～♪

大仏様の体内は意外とひんやり♪
Inside the Great Buddha, it’s surprisingly cool and refreshing♪
真夏だと地獄のような暑さで、体内にいる時間は約１分と制限されているそうです💧
However, in the peak of summer it becomes unbearably hot, almost like hell, and visitors are limited to about one minute inside💧
大仏様の体内から生まれた後💧近くの広場には、
After emerging from the Great buddha’s interior💧, in the nearby plaza…
ある石碑が！
There’s a stone monument！
歌人・与謝野晶子が、大仏様を想って詠んだ歌が飾られています。
A poem by poet Yosano Akiko, written while reflecting on the Great Buddha, is displayed here.
江の島に飾られている歌といい、与謝野晶子は神奈川の名所を愛していたのですね…。
Along with the one exhibited in Enoshima, it seems Yosano Akiko had a deep affection for the famous sights of Kanagawa…
再び、大仏様へ！
Back to the Great Buddha again！
大仏様「む～ん…今日も参拝客がたっくさん！ 結構♪ 結構♫」
Great Buddha: “Hmm…there are so many visitors today as well！ How pleasant…how very pleasant♪”
仏様だけあって、悟りを開いた顔ってこんな穏やかな表情なんでしょうね。
As expected of a Buddha, this must be what an enlightened expression looks like－ such a calm and serene face.

The hydrangea design is a limited edition available only during this season♪
最後に、江ノ電「長谷駅」の名前にも使われている…、
Finally, the name used for Hase Station on the Enoden line is also associated with…
長谷寺に到着！
We’ve arrived at Hase-dera Temple！

特に今の時期は…、境内のアジサイが見頃！
Especially at this time of year, the hydrangeas within the temple grounds are at their best！

Leon and Steve also take a commemorative photo with the hydrangeas as a backdrop.
山門を潜ってすぐに池があって、水の流れが心を癒します
Right after passing through the main gate, there’s a pond, and the sound of flowing water is deeply soothing
鯉も元気に泳いでます♪
The colorful koi are swimming energetically as well♪
ここのお庭を楽しむのは後にして、石段を登り本堂へ！
We’ll enjoy the garden a bit later－ for now, we head up the stone steps toward the main hall！
見晴らしの良い本堂に到着！
We’ve arrived at the main hall with its beautiful view！
本堂の中には、高さ9.18ｍの本尊の十一面観音菩薩像が祀られています。
Inside the main hall is the principal deity, a 9.18-meter-tall Eleven-Faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue.
間近で見ると大迫力‼ しかし、中は撮影禁止！
Seen up close, it is truly awe-inspiring!!
However, photography is strictly prohibited inside.

本堂の右側には、阿弥陀堂。
On the right side if the main hall is the Amida Hall.

本堂近くの展望台から望む相模湾。

三浦半島もキレイに見えます♪
You can also get a clear view of the Miura Peninsula.

“Still, I’m really glad it didn’t rain🌞”
「だな♪！」
“Yeah, same here♪”
景色を堪能した後は、また階段を降り、
After enjoying the view, we head back down the stairs…
弁天窟へ！
To Bentenkutsu Cave！
弘法大師がここに籠って修行した際、自作の弁才天を収めたことが名前の由来です。
The name comes from the legend that Kōbō Daishi once retreated here for ascetic training and enshrined a self-made statue of Benzaiten.
その伝承にちなんで、窟の壁面には弁才天とその弟子の十六童子が彫刻されています。
In reference to this tradition, carvings of Benzaiten and her sixteen attendant children are engraved on the cave walls.
中が暗すぎたのと、観光客でいっぱいだったので、上手く撮影できませんでした💦
It was too dark inside, and also very crowded with visitors, so I couldn’t take proper photos💦
その近くには、お庭がキレイな書院。
Nearby is shoin (study hall) with a beautiful garden.
午前９時から午後１時まで、いつでも写経・写仏が体験可能だそうです。
Shakyō (sutra copying) and shakubutsu (Buddha tracing) experiences are available any time from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
「今は午後４時前…」
“It’s just before 4 p.m. now…”
「時すでにお寿司…じゃなくて遅し💧」
“Too late already💧”
最後に、
Finally…
山門近くの池まで戻ってきました。
We’ve returned to the pond near the main gate.
ここも流れる水音と優雅な鯉の泳ぎ…遠くから聴こえるウグイスのさえずり、
Here too, there is the soothing sound of flowing water and elegant koi swimming through the pond…along with the distant song of a Japanese bush warbler,
キレイな菖蒲に心癒されたレオンとスティーブなのでした～♪
Leon and Steve were both deeply soothed by the beautiful irises♪
そして長谷寺(左)と、杉本寺(右)の御朱印。
And here are the goshuin from Hase-dera (left) and Sugimoto-dera (right).
それぞれ味があって素敵ですね～
Each one has its own unique charm and truly beautiful
「スティーブ…どうだった？ たまにはこういう旅行も良かっただろう♪？」
