〈カードの詳細〉 Card details
ソードの４…数字の「４」は、「安定性」を表すもの。
The Four of Swords…The number ‘４’ represents stability.
ソード(剣)は、情報や言葉、思考を表す「風」のエレメント。
Swords correspond to the element of Air, which governs information, words, and thought.
ソードの４は、騎士が大切な剣を脇に置き、安定した棺の上に横たわっている様子が描かれています。
In the Four of Swords, a knight is depicted lying upon a solid tomb, his treasured sword set carefully at his side.
騎士は死んでいるわけではなく、手を合わせている姿から、天に祈りを捧げているように見えます。
The knight is not dead; with his hands pressed together, he appears to be offering a prayer to the heavens.
時が来れば起き出し、脇にある剣を取って、また戦いに赴くのです。
When the time comes, he will rise, take up the sword beside him, and return to the battlefield.
つまり、このカードは「戦いの前の一時的な休息」を意味しています。
In other words, this card signifies a temporary rest before the next battle.
レオンや棺、剣などの黄色い部分…黄色は幸福や祝福、豊かさや希望を表す色。
The yellow elements－ Leon, the tomb, and the sword－ carry special meaning.
Yellow is a color that represents happiness, blessings, abundance, and hope.
騎士のレオンや、棺、剣が黄色なのは、レオンは死んでいるのではなく、じっくりと休んでいることを表しています。
By portraying Leon, the tomb, and the sword in yellow, the card makes it clear that Leon is not dead but simply resting deeply and peacefully.
今は、戦うことより、休息を取ることの方が大事であるとカードは伝えています。
The message of the card is that, for now, taking time to rest is more important than continuing the fight.
背景のステンドグラス…この場所が祈りを捧げ、休息を必要とするための静かな教会であることを示しています。
The stained-glass window in the background…suggests that this is a quiet church－ a place for offering prayers and seeking rest.
その中にレオンの上司マービンと先輩のケビンを描いてみました。
Within it, I chose to depict Leon alongside his superior, Marvin, and his senior colleague, Kevin.
マービンの頭上のR.P.D.…本物のタロットカードでは、ラテン語で「平和」という意味の「PAX」という文字が描かれています。
Above Marvin’s head, you can see the letters ‘PAX’ …In the original Tarot card, ‘peace’ in Latin, is depicted there instead.
それを、ラクーン警察署の略称「R.P.D.」に書き替えてみました。
I replaced it with ‘R.P.D.,’ the abbreviation for the Raccoon Police Department.
壁に掛かった３本の剣…この３本の剣は、壁に掛けられているので、すぐに使用しません。
The three swords hanging on the wall…Because they are mounted there, they are not meant to be used immediately.
また、灰色で描かれているため、物事が白か黒かハッキリしていない状態…つまり、この安全な教会の外では争いがまだ続いていることを表しています。
They are also depicted in gray, suggesting a state where nothing is clearly black ora white.
In other words, they symbolize that beyond the safety of this church, the conflict is still ongoing.
レオンの脇に置かれた剣…レオンがすぐ手に取れる位置に剣があることから、今は一時的な休息で、それが終わればまた戦いに出ることを表しています。
The sword placed at Leon’s side…Because it rests within easy reach of his hand, it suggests that this is only a temporary pause.
Once his rest is over, he will take up the sword again and return to the fight.
